Stories to Make You Salivate (& Smile)
Inkers near and far are preparing for chili cook-offs and they’re not the only ones. Some awesome customers have shared stories in our Ink of the Week contest about perfecting their own recipes and putting their creations to the test!
Five employees of a North Dakota oil and gas service company gathered together last winter in Dickinson, North Dakota for the annual Gumbo Cook-off event. The guys competed against other companies in the industry for the area’s best gumbo and while they didn’t win first place, everyone really enjoyed the matching team outfits!
Meatball lovers united on New Year’s Day at the 5th annual Balls to the Wall Meatball Cook-Off. With a hand-drawn design from one of the meatball contenders, and silly nicknames on the back design, these shirts helped top off the most successful cook-off yet. Even guests who decided not to partake were asking how they could get a shirt at the end of the party.
The Loerwald family has been participating in a chili cook-off for the past three years, but it wasn’t until the third and most recent year that they decided to commemorate the event with custom t-shirts. Their pirate theme has been such a hit all of these years and it will continue to be a tradition now that they’ve created these “Chili me Timbers” shirts!
What goes well with chili? This customer would definitely say, hot dogs! He is the founder of the first ever hot dog bike tour, “Tour de Franks – Chicago.” Since 2011, he has placed five consecutive orders, all with uniquely different designs. Since the tour’s creation, it has grown to span 30 miles, 8 hot dog stands, and over 40 riders! Next plans are to spread the tour to New York City.
