#InkTheLove – The Junior Bike Angels
Did you know an octopus has three hearts? It’s no wonder our trusted octopus mascot, Inky, has a lot of love to give! With our #InkTheLove campaign we’re spreading the love to a few kind and compassionate customers who give back to others. Check out one of our featured customers: The Junior Bike Angels.
This group of young girls, called the Junior Bike Angels, help out the community of Lake County, CA, where wildfires destroyed hundreds of homes. The idea to collect bikes started when an area preschool started sourcing bikes for local children. This idea took off, and soon it became so popular that it was becoming hard to meet the demand. The girls took notice and decided to do their part to help out. They hope that the bikes bring a welcome distraction to the kids who lost everything in the devastating fires.
They ordered shirts to make them easily identifiable and unite them as a group when delivering bikes and at fundraisers (as seen in the photo above), and to date, have collected 480 new and used bikes and raised over $3,000! You can like The Junior Bike Angels on Facebook to follow their efforts!
Last week, the girls Destination Imagination team placed FIRST in the State of CA. They presented their community outreach project and competed against 9 other teams from around the state.
They will represent our State at the Globals May 23-29 in Tennessee. It’s a wonderful opportunity for the girls as they will not only compete, but engage in learning with some of the most creative minds in the world. 15 countries will be represented!
It’s going to cost each girl about $1300 to travel. They set up a Gofundme page to help cover some of the associated costs. Take a look and help out if you can!
