Celebrate Juneteenth with Our Favorite Designs
On January 1, 1863, at the height of the Civil War, the Emancipation Proclamation took effect, marking the beginning of the end of slavery in the United States. Over the course of the next two years, the Thirteenth Amendment was ratified and the Civil War was won. However, it wasn’t until June 19, 1865 when a Union Army force was able to free more than 250,000 enslaved Black people in Galveston Bay, Texas that the era of slavery officially came to a close. This day came to be known as Juneteenth by the newly freed people of Texas, and marks our country’s second independence day.
While Juneteenth has long been an important holiday, it has only recently begun to receive the attention it deserves across the whole of America. Over the last year, we’ve seen an increase in Juneteenth related searches in our Design Lab, and our artists have been working hard to create beautiful art worthy of this historic celebration and to help continue spreading awareness of the importance of Juneteenth.
Check out all of our new awesome artwork designed to help you and your group celebrate this holiday in style, and see below for some of our favorite new designs and why we love them.
