#InkTheLove All Year Long!
Don’t stop spreading the love just because February is over! Here at CustomInk, we’re making the commitment to #InkTheLove all year long, and we want YOU to join us!
When you see someone in your community or out in the world who inspires you with the love they are showing to others, share their story with your friends using the hashtag “#InkTheLove.” We’ll be doing the same, as well as reading all of your stories and sharing our favorites!
Get inspired to #InkTheLove by reading more about the awesome people we honored this past February and the incredible work they do to give back to their communities and beyond:
The Paw Spa
Antonia and her crew are helping to take a bite out of cancer through Bark for Life, a Relay for Life event with a furry twist! Food, fun, and a dog show are all part of this event to raise funds in support of the American Cancer Society. After a successful inaugural year, they are currently planning the second annual event! The Paw Spa has ordered custom shirts from us for Bark for Life volunteers and participants.
Guardian Angel Thrift
Guardian Angel Thrift is a non-profit organization started by Laura Gaddis. Laura watched her mother suffer from Alzheimer’s for many years and wanted to do something to help find a cure. She created Guardian Angel Thrift to donate the store’s proceeds towards research and care for those affected. The store quickly grew and so did the amount they donated. As of April 2015, they’ve raised over $2,000,000! They’ve ordered custom t-shirts from us to celebrate both their $1,000,000 and $2,000,000 milestones.
The Liberty Run Foundation
The Liberty Run Foundation is a non-profit organization providing veteran to veteran support. Through the Comfort Bag Program (as seen in the photo above), they are able to collaborate with the community to source hygiene supplies for not only veterans, but also the homeless and low-income populations. They also help to provide other items, including disaster relief items such as sleeping bags, ponchos, and other seasonal-specific items like jackets, sweatshirts, children comfort items (teddy bears, and toys), tents, and air mattresses.
The Junior Bike Angels
This group of young girls, called the Junior Bike Angels, help out the community of Lake County, CA, where wildfires destroyed hundreds of homes. The idea to collect bikes started when an area preschool started sourcing bikes for local children. This idea took off, and soon it became so popular that it was becoming hard to meet the demand. The girls took notice and decided to do their part to help out. They hope that the bikes bring a welcome distraction to the kids who lost everything in the devastating fires.
The Detroit Mower Gang
The Detroit Mower Gang (DMG) gets together every Wednesday to mow the abandoned playgrounds of Detroit. They refuse to let the city’s parks disappear due to neglect. In the photo above, the team joined with Focus: HOPE, an organization dedicated to intelligent and practical solutions to the problems of hunger, economic disparity, inadequate education, and racial divisiveness, to offer their services toward a massive revitalization project. 15,000 volunteers came together to clean up vacant lots, board abandoned homes, and introduce new rain gardens, public art, and trees to the neighborhood. The DMG helped by mowing and clearing brush to tame the thickest parts of the urban jungle. The group shirts were a huge hit and helped the group “kick grass!”
