Ink of the Week Winners

“Baton Rouge Youth Coalition Step” and “Gr8est Gift Of All Is Family” are the winners of this week’s Ink of the Week contest!

The Baton Rouge Youth Coalition prepares high-achieving, under-resourced high school students to enter, excel in, and graduate from college so they can become full participants in society. They celebrated the students and the program’s achievements at their annual holiday party. Photographed is the program’s 2016-2017 Step Team, decked out in their new custom tees!

For 33 years, Robert and Susan ran a busy household in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey. It was there that they raised 8 children – 15 years apart from oldest to youngest – and where they welcomed new faces and grandchildren. This past September, Robert and Susan were left “empty-nesting” for the very first time. They began working regularly side-by-side making crafts and taking steps towards fulfilling Susan’s dream of owning her own craft business. The kids wanted to do something special for their parents this past Christmas, so they designed and ordered custom t-shirts as presents to embody their mom’s mission of making a dream a reality! Thus was born “Pallets & Paints by Sue,” a wooden craft company making custom crafts from re-purposed wooden pallets and fencing.
