16 Ideas for a Custom Mother’s Day

1. Mommy Fuel Mug

Is mom constantly sipping on tea or coffee to keep her caffeinated throughout her busy day? Give her a new mug this Mother’s Day! There are tons of cute mom-specific personalized mugs available to order online, or simply use them for inspiration to create your own. To customize your own cup, just buy a white ceramic mug and design away with oil-based Sharpies. Once it’s dry, pop it in the oven for 30 minutes at 350°F. (Just make sure mom knows to hand wash the mug in order to preserve your unique design.) Pair her mug with her favorite herbal tea or a specialty roast coffee. What a mug-nificent idea!

2. Handprint Bouquet

Flowers are a go-to Mother’s Day gift, but why not make this year’s bouquet last forever? A handprint bouquet is a fun and creative gift and easy for kids (or adults) of all ages. Get a piece of paper, poster board, or canvas—a light color works bests. Paint your hand and press it on. Do this a few times in a variety of different colors. Now your blooms are complete! For a less messy version, trace your hand on colored construction paper several times, then, cut them out and stick them on! Once your flowers are dry or secure, draw, paint, or color on the stems and leaves. Add your own flare by incorporating glitter and buttons, or a ribbon to “tie” the bouquet together. Take your bouquet to the next level by putting you handprint arrangement in a pretty frame. Mom will treasure these flowers for years to come!

3. Netflix & Nap

Is Mom so busy that she never has time to just relax? Give her an afternoon of napping and Netflix binge watching. It’s a great excuse for her to spend the day in her pajamas (or a super-soft tee). You could even get her a new pair to snuggle up in. Set your mom up with all of her favorite snacks—popcorn, candy, the works! Stick a bow on the remote and let her have at it. Promise there will be no interruptions—except when you bring her refills and fluff her pillow, of course!

4. I Love You Because Video

We all love and appreciate mom, but she doesn’t hearit enough. So why not capture all of the things you admire about her on film? If you’re not tech savvy, don’t worry, there are plenty of apps out there to help you edit videos like a pro. It’s fun to record a special message with your siblings and dad, but is sure to be just as special if it’s just yourself. So round up the gang or get your selfie stick ready—it’s time to tell mom just how important she is to you.

5. Custom Tote Bag

Is mom always struggling to get in and of the house because her hands are too full? Why not create a one-of-a-kind tote bag just for her. It’ll be the perfect versatile bag to hold all of her stuff, plus it’ll be extra special because it was designed by you! If your mom has a mantra, be sure to stick it on. Or use a catchy saying like “Mom on a Mission” or “I’m Not a Regular Mom, I’m a Cool Mom” for something on the sillier side.

6. Bath Bombs

Give your mom a chance to indulge in a bubble bath with an extra special treat! Make your own fizzy bath bombs this Mother’s Day. Mix together 2 cups baking soda and 1 cup cream of tartar in a large bowl. Next add 1 teaspoon of food coloring—make it mom’s favorite color! In addition, give it some flavor. Add 2 teaspoons of food flavoring such as vanilla, almond, or lemon extract. Or add a few drops of your favorite essential oils, like lavender for a super relaxing scent. Mix everything together with your hands, breaking up any clumps that have formed. Scoop the mixture in to an ice cube tray and press it in the molds. If you want to get even more creative, use a tray that has fun shapes or order a specific bath bomb mold online for a few bucks. After letting them sit overnight, gently tap the bath bombs out of the molds. All Mom has to do is drop one in and she’s on her way to resting and relaxing!

7. Workout Outfit

Give mom some new clothes to sport when she hits up the gym. Better yet, customize performance apparel just for her! She’s sure to love wearing a custom “Super Mom,” “Tired as a Mother,” or “Chasing Toddlers is my Cardio” racerback tank to her next fitness class.

8. What’s In a Name?

Get poetic this Mother’s Day and write an acrostic for mom. An acrostic is a poem in which certain letter in each line spells out a word. It’s easier than it sounds! You can use the word “mom” or “mother,” or use your mom’s first name. Write the word or name vertically, and use the letters to write a special message. For example, (M)y (O)outstanding (M)entor. You can simply write it out in a homemade card, get crafty and put it on a canvas, or use our design lab to create a one of a kind t-shirt. Some of our apparel has no minimum order quantity, and shipping is always free and fast.

9. MOMmosa Bar

Go beyond breakfast in bed. Set up the perfect brunch for mom! Make up some omelets or your favorite egg casserole recipe. Are pancakes Mom’s favorite? Whip up a batch. Or pick up some donuts or pastries from her favorite bakery. Don’t forget the MOMmosas! Pour some champagne, add some juice, and top with fruit. Mom is sure to enjoy this spread—and the best part is you get to enjoy a delicious brunch, too.

10. Garden Stone

Make Mom a keepsake for her garden! Even if she doesn’t have a garden, this makes for the perfect stepping stone to enhance the front walkway. You’ll need cement mix, a stone mold, and mosaic tiles. Follow the instructions in order to mix the cement, then pour in to the desired stone mold. You may need to smooth it out with a paint stick. As soon as the mixture is poured and smoothed, begin placing the mosaic tiles into the desired shape or pattern. After the cement has set a bit (20 minutes or so), feel free to add a handprint or footprint, or use a stick to imprint a name or date so your mom always remembers who made her this special stepping stone.

11. Custom Cookbook

Does Mom love to cook but struggles with what to whip up for the family? Create her a custom cookbook this Mother’s Day. There are a few different websites out there where you can upload recipes and photos to make a professional looking cookbook in a snap. Consider asking relatives and friends for some of their favorite recipes to add to the book. If you’re looking for something more low key, browse sites like Pinterest and popular food blogs to scrounge up a list of some delicious recipes and save them in a document (or print them out!) so mom has easy access to loads of cooking instructions. She is sure to appreciate this appetizing offer.

12. Spa Day

Let Mom spend the day getting pampered. If a day at the spa is in your price range, leave it to the professionals. Her favorite treatments will make her day relaxing and special. If you’re on a budget, you can still treat mom to a delightful spa day at home. Make your own face mask, splurge on her favorite body scrub, and indulge in some new nail polish for a fresh do-it-yourself mani and pedi. Fill up a pitcher with some refreshing cucumber water and make mom a special spa day lunch. Add a vase of fresh flowers to the space and light a couple of candles–she’s bound to feel like she’s in a day spa. What an ahhh-mazing day for mom!

13. Mom is SWEET

Does your mom have a sweet tooth? Give her a sugar rush and spoil her with all of her favorite sweet treats—candy, cookies, and cupcakes galore. Does she have a favorite bakery? Hit it up! Is her favorite candy hard to find? Make sure you have it in stock. You can even make a special homemade cake or chocolate covered strawberries just for her. Make sure the day is just as sweet as mom.

14. Personalized Bookmark

If your mom is a book worm, give her a custom bookmark to use while she reads. There are tons of ways to get crafty and personalize bookmarks no matter what your artist ability may be. For smaller kids, consider gluing buttons onto a large popsicle stick in a pretty pattern. If that’s not up your alley, paint, draw, or use stickers on a 2” x 6” piece of computer paper. When finished personalizing, laminate the bookmark with peel and stick sheets. If you’ve got some sewing skills, you could even knit or crochet a bookmark with a design as intricate or simple as you like. Mom with love being reminded of you every time she snuggles up with a good book!
