How to Roll a Shirt

Military style, burrito, army roll—no matter what you like to call this shirt rolling technique, it’s sure to save you a ton of space. This method follows the basic t-shirt folding principle of folding the sleeves in, but results in a smaller and easier to store roll. And when it comes to long-term storage, it’s hard to beat this technique! Filling up a storage container with rolled tees, rather than folded, is sure to save a ton of space, which means keeping all your tees as keepsakes. Steps for How to Roll a Shirt (Army or Military Roll)

  1. Lay shirt flat
  2. To start rolling a t shirt, first lay the shirt flat

    Place your shirt on a flat surface.

  3. Fold the left side in
  4. Fold in the left side of the shirt to start rolling it

    Fold the left side in to the middle and then fold the sleeve over.

  5. Fold the right side in
  6. shirt folded in

    Fold the right side in to the middle and then fold the sleeve over.

  7. Roll it up
  8. Roll up your t shirt in an army or military roll technique

    Roll the shirt up from the bottom.

      Steps to fold t-shirt military style. Find a flat surface to spread out your shirt. Lift about three inches of the end of the shirt and fold it like you would with a beanie. Fold the left side, along with its sleeve, over to the center. Then, do the same for the right side. Roll the shirt from the collar down towards the end as tightly as you can. Using the folded end that you have made earlier, wrap it around the rolled portion of your shirt like a burrito.
