Posted By Laura

The weather is getting warmer, so it’s time to have some outdoor fun. What better way to get outside and active than with a fun run! Each one has a different theme to appeal to seasoned athletes and amateurs alike. We have the top 5 types of fun runs for you to try this summer and some inspiration to get you started!

1. Mud & Obstacle Races

Mud Run
It seems like everyone is taking part in a mud race! From Tough Mudder to Mudderella, runners everywhere are playing in the dirt. Not only do they get a little dirty, participants take on obstacles like 10-foot walls and extreme monkey bars.

2. Color Runs

Color Run
Runners start off wearing white and are doused in colorful powder during the race making for some pretty colorful t-shirts at the finish line! Some runs even add a little extra something. At
The Color Run Shine Tour participants also get to run through clouds of glitter – It’s no wonder that it’s know as the “Happiest 5K on the Planet.”

3. Relay Races

Ragnar
In a Ragnar relay race, teammates take turns running legs of varying degrees of length and difficulty. When not running, participants drive ahead to cheer on the current runner or rest up for their next leg of the race.

4. Zombie Runs

Zombie Race
Run from virus-spreading zombies, scale walls and other obstacles, and brave bloody waters to conquer the course and survive the zombie apocalypse. If you make it out alive, many runs, like
The Zombie Run, offer a post-race recovery party in the safe zone.

5. Electric or Glow Races

Electric Run
Electric and glow races light up the night with blacklights and neon inflatables galore. Participants, like this group at the Electric Run, often add to the glow by wearing glow-in-the-dark paint and glowsticks – LED blinking tutus optional!
