Tyler and his classmates traveled to Tijuana, Mexico, during their spring break to build homes for families in need. With them, they brought their gold, foil ink t-shirts to wear while building. They had a few extras to spare, so they gave out shirts to some of the kids for whom they were building houses (look closely and you’ll see seven-year-old, Kevin, lounging among some of the teens).

Youth members of Jacksonville’s Believers in Christ Christian Center are “feeding bodies and restoring souls” (slogan from the back of their t-shirts). Recently, they took to the streets of downtown Jacksonville to give hygiene supplies, food, clothes, and prayers to the homeless in the community. The volunteers’ shirts were such a hit, that those who didn’t get one initially now want one!

At just 14 years old, Addison started the nonprofit organization, The Overlooked, to provide dream concert tickets to music fans with a mental illness, physical disorder, or external life struggle. Nominations pour in from all over the country and Addison and her team work with the nominees to pair them up with a night to remember. Now in high school, Addison is dreaming bigger and hoping to expand her organization internationally so that she can help as many people as possible feel seen, known, and loved.

Five employees of a North Dakota oil and gas service company gathered together last winter in Dickinson, North Dakota for the annual Gumbo Cook-off event. The guys competed against other companies in the industry for the area’s best gumbo and while they didn’t win first place, everyone really enjoyed the matching team outfits!

Meatball lovers united on New Year’s Day at the 5th annual Balls to the Wall Meatball Cook-Off. With a hand-drawn design from one of the meatball contenders, and silly nicknames on the back design, these shirts helped top off the most successful cook-off yet. Even guests who decided not to partake were asking how they could get a shirt at the end of the party.

The Loerwald family has been participating in a chili cook-off for the past three years, but it wasn’t until the third and most recent year that they decided to commemorate the event with custom t-shirts. Their pirate theme has been such a hit all of these years and it will continue to be a tradition now that they’ve created these “Chili me Timbers” shirts!

He is the founder of the first ever hot dog bike tour, “Tour de Franks – Chicago.” Since 2011, he has placed five consecutive orders, all with uniquely different designs. Since the tour’s creation, it has grown to span 30 miles, 8 hot dog stands, and over 40 riders! Next plans are to spread the tour to New York City.

Turkey Trot

Inaugural Pine Hill Turkey Trot

This family decided to do their own version of a turkey trot this year, and although they didn’t sign up for an actual race, it was “made to feel even more real with official t-shirts from CustomInk.” Everyone played a role in the race, including Grammy as the timer and finish line judge. Even the granddog participated in the race! When the trot concluded, it was time for pie and stuffing for all.

BarCrawlCollageEvolving Thanksgiving Bar Crawl

Three years ago, these friends embarked on a journey to create the ultimate Thanksgiving bar crawl. In three years, the number of participants has grown from just a handful to over 30 attendees (see all three photos above). Using the Group Order Form, this repeat customer organized the “Gobble til you Wobble” t-shirt order for this year’s third annual event. Their goal is to have upwards of 75 people come out for next year’s crawl!

These family friends have a wonderful tradition of enjoying each Thanksgiving away from the city crowds in the beautiful West Texas Big Bend region. This year’s trip had a record group of 24 folks in attendance so the group decided to get Big Bend Thanksgiving 2015 (BBTG15) t-shirts to mark the occasion. The shirts “helped the big group bond and they were a real highlight of the trip!”

Instead of traveling for Thanksgiving, this family and their family friend stayed local and explored the many things that Chicago has to offer, like a scavenger hunt (in custom shirts, of course) at the Museum of Science and a play downtown afterward. The customer combined everyone’s last names – O’Hara, Wright, and McKeever – into a custom t-shirt design and surprised the entire group on the day of the festivities!

Ink of the Week

For over six years, we’ve been collecting customer stories in our Ink of the Week contest. Throughout the years, we’ve heard from some truly amazing customers about how their CustomInk orders helped to unite their community and take their event to the next level. To show you some of the communities we’ve touched, we’ve compiled a handful of stories that caught our eye this past month.

 

Run_rainforestRun for the Rainforest

Each year, students and teachers from Hudson High School in Massachusetts prepare to spend 10 days in the Peruvian Amazon visiting communities and working collectively with local residents digging latrines, repainting community centers, etc. When they return from the trip, students host a Peru Night for family and community members. During the event, they share special moments of their journey and put on the Run for Rainforest fundraiser (hence the awesome sapphire t-shirts), raising funds for the next year’s trip.

When this customer and her three siblings were younger, their parents forced them to wear matching purple t-shirts with their last names printed across the back each time they visited amusements parks. Twenty years later, a family reunion at Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri sparked the idea for her to surprise the family with custom shirts, just like the old days. “The shirts added a new dimension of fun and togetherness to the family trip,” and will forever be a memory of the weekend they all shared.

On Instagram, there is a huge community consisting of women all over the world who support and encourage each other throughout the Bikini Body Guide, a 12-week exercise program based out of Australia. A couple months ago, women in the Boston area who were participating in the program met up to work out together and bond over common interests. Just a few weeks ago, the group (along with a few men) met up again, this time sporting personalized “Sore is the New Sexy” performance shirts.

Eunice_Symphony_OrchestraEunice Symphony Orchestra

The Eunice Symphony Orchestra is an all volunteer organization, and “the only symphony on the Cajun prairie,” that provides an opportunity for many in the community to learn a string instrument and play in a symphony (no schools nearby offer a string program). For the first time in their fifteen years running, the group organized a Park-estra concert to show off their talent to the town. It was such a success, that they are looking to make this concert a yearly occurrence.
