We offer Creative Services to our Military customers for free, and I’ve been the go-to rep for these customers for the last 3 or so years. Key design elements for our soldiers unit shirts tend to include similar images, no matter if we are designing for Navy, Army, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard or National Guard.
Below I’ve compiled a list of the usual suspects.
- Animal Mascots
- Military vehicles
- Playing cards
- Pin-Up Girls
What would you put on your military t-shirts?
So now that spring is in the air, even if it doesn’t feel like spring outside (it’s currently gray skies in the DC area and my teammates are complaining about the lack of sunshine), it’s time to start adding fun, colorful, flair to your wardrobe and to your custom tees. I look to Jayme’s monitor, and then to Erin’s (our art specialists), and they are both working on similar concepts for their customers’ orders.

I know you know that nothing completes a special occasion better than a custom t-shirt, right? Sometimes you need help making the souvenir for the big day really unique.
For example, you could need a cool design for your son’s 5th birthday. This year, he’s obsessed with funny-looking monsters like Rick H.’s son of Wellesley Hills, MA, and you’re not sure where to start or how to make it pop. What you do have is some photos of the entertainment (real monsters) coming for the big day and an idea. We can take it from there! Read more –>
Fun Fact: More adults in the world fly kites than children.
Here’s one adult’s story:
Scott H. owns a Kite shop in Pacific Beach, Washington. Every year for the past 17 years, Scott sponsors a fun fly event at the end of the summer where people get together and fly kites. Selling a commemorative t-shirt is the cornerstone to this annual event.
Scott contacted Creative Services with a few ideas. Namely, Scott wanted to include a male and female crab on a beach, flying kites. We translated his concept into a winning idea for his “Up Your Wind” 18th Annual Festival.
Scott loved the shirts so much, he sent us one of his mini box flyers (13 of 13) with the design printed on the kite! After running around the office for a few minutes of indoor kite flying, I emailed to thank him for the amazing gift.
We look forward to helping Scott next year for the 19th Annual “Up Your Wind” event!

Michael told you all about Creative Services recently, and now I’ll be sharing some customer stories from those who’ve taken advantage of this great service!
Kim S. has a swim team in Pasadena, California, called the Sting Rays. Every year, she gets her swim team t-shirts to wear to swim meets and show their team pride. This year, she wanted to do something really special and make the kids shirts that were cool enough to wear for meets, but also something they’d want to wear year round. So, she contacted Creative Services.
Kim asked for two swim team t-shirt designs — one for the boys and one for the girls — and since they are in Cali, she wanted the shirts to look like the vintage, surf shop style she saw in all the stores. The final designs had a similar aesthetic, using the same color palette and texture effect, but were changed up so the girls had a more feminine flair. There is a sting ray in each of the designs, but the surrounding imagery changes the tone completely. To make the shirts even more fashionable, Kim ordered girly-style shirts for the girls so the fit would be more flattering. They were such a hit, she ending up reordering both designs a month later!
